Executive Assistant

Position Description

Youth and Family Enrichment Services (YoFES) seeks an energetic and detail orientated person to fill an Executive Assistant position. This individual will report to the Executive Director and contribute to the overall success of the organization. The successful candidate must be creative and enjoy working within a small, community-oriented environment that is mission and results-driven. The ideal individual will have exceptional written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The ability to work independently on projects, work under time constraints, and handle confidential matters with discretion is essential.

Location: Hyde Park, MA. Temporarily remote. 

Time commitment: Part-time, 15 hrs/week. Flexible hours. 

Start date: Early June 2021 

Responsibilities

  • Provide general office support to the Executive Director, responsibilities to include but not limited to maintenance of filing system, invoice processing, drafting/sending emails, answering office phones, etc.

  • Perform data entry to various systems (QuickBooks, Constant Contact, Excel, etc.) and maintain donor database.

  • Maintain current knowledge of community development programs and generate ideas on how to expand and improve upon existing programs.

  • Assist program directors with all aspects of programmatic meetings as necessary including scheduling, meeting planning, program research, and communication.

  • Assist with the development stewardship process for the organization, including solicitation letters, tracking gifts, event planning, thank you letters and more.

  • Assist with donation requests, distributions, and reconciliation.

  • Assist with event planning and attend all events and fundraisers.

  • Assist in updating and maintaining the YoFES website. 

Applicant Qualifications

  • A minimum of an Associates Degree and 1-3 years of professional experience. (Bachelor’s Preferred)

  • Passionate about social impact work and culturally curious with the desire to continuously learn.

  • Interested in a long-term role with the potential for growth.

  • Trustworthy, kind, positive attitude, and comfortable working on a small "all hands on deck" team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

  • Action-oriented, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to day-to-day work and longer-term planning.

  • Detail oriented, strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects/priorities at any given time.

  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people and with professionals at all levels within an organization.

  • Ability to travel for occasional work events.

  • Proficient with Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), Google Drive, Microsoft Suite, and Zoom. Wix and QuickBooks knowledge a plus.​

Private Percussion Instructor (Virtual)

Position Description

YoFES is seeking an enthusiastic, qualified music educator to fill a private percussion instructor position for immediate hire within our Open Access to Music Education for Children (OAMEC) program. Applicants must play percussion as their primary or secondary instrument and must feel comfortable teaching beginners through the use of practice pads and standard drum kits. The position is part time and would begin in a remote setting, possibly moving to an in-person or hybrid model in the fall of 2021. OAMEC instructors are encouraged to tailor their teaching curriculums to each student’s individual needs and engage in collaborative, strategic curriculum planning with other YoFES music colleagues. Time commitment: 0.5 hrs / week to start (1 student). Opportunity to expand the studio as more percussion students register for the program. ​Weekly schedule is self selected based on mutual availability.

Qualifications

  • Music degree or equivalent performance and/or teaching experience required. 

  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience preferred. A creative and flexible teaching style is a must, as is commitment to social emotional learning and active engagement in antiracist values (particularly in the classroom). 

  • Willingness to teach differently abled and/or neuro-diverse youth is highly preferable.

  • Interest in activism, community service & engagement, non-profit work, etc is preferable.

  • Conversational skills in Spanish, Haitian Creole and/or Mandarin Chinese are a plus.

  • Must undergo and pass a CORI check.

Online After School Tutors

Individualized academic support is an essential service that allows Boston youth to achieve and thrive, yet it is rarely accessible to immigrant families of color who need it most. YoFES is determined to help bridge this equity gap by providing affordable and convenient online tutoring throughout the school year, but we need your help to make it happen. Apply for a YBAS tutoring position today!

Position Description

  • Part time, remote position. Work in the safety and convenience of your own home!

  • Provide individualized homework help and test prep for students in grades 2-8 via Zoom or other online platform. 

  • Help students foster a strong worth ethic and sense of accountability.

  • Work 2-10 hrs/week (based on availability). 

Qualifications

  • Ideal position for high school Math & English honor students or college level students. 

  • Program hours are Mon - Thurs, 3:30-6:30 pm. Applicants must have at least 4 hrs of teaching availability per week to be considered.

  • Conversational skills in Spanish, Haitian Creole and/or Mandarin Chinese are a plus.

  • All tutors must undergo and pass a CORI check. 

Salary: Starts at $13.50/hr OR can be used to fulfill internship/community service requirements.

Please be aware that volunteers working with children must consent to a CORI check. If you are an onsite volunteer, you must be prepared to follow all COVID-19 regulations set by the City of Boston and Youth & Family Enrichment Services. 

Piano Instructor (Virtual)

Description

Volunteer would provide weekly 30 minute beginning/intermediate piano instruction to elementary & middle school aged students via an online, virtual platform. These lessons would be given to BIPOC students from low income families severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Time commitment: 2 - 4 hrs per month (0.5 - 1 hr per week). 1 or 2 students to start.

Qualifications

  • Skilled musician & pianist. Music degree or equivalent performance history is preferable.

  • At least 1 year of teaching experience is preferable. 

  • Interest in activism, community service & engagement, non-profit work, etc. 

  • A creative and flexible teaching style is a must, as is commitment to social emotional learning and active engagement in antiracist values (particularly in the classroom).
