YoFestival Trivia

YoFestival is an annual event held by YoFES in honor of Haitian Mother's Day. Traditionally, it also marks the conclusion of Haitian Heritage Month festivities in Boston.

It's also a pun, or play on words! YoFES + Festival = YoFestival. Get it?

In past years, YoFestival has taken the form of a large scale concert held at The Strand Theatre in Dorchester. Friends and supporters gather together to celebrate the strength, progress, and thriving culture of the greater Boston Haitian community. Students perform to compete for prizes and to showcase their yearly musical development, and audiences also enjoy appearances by YoFES staff, local artists, and public figures.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unfortunately unable to host an in-person event for YoFestival 2020. However, it's important to YoFES that we continue the tradition of paying tribute to Haitian culture and heritage. This year, you can safely celebrate with us from your own homes by enjoying a video compilation of performances by current students, past performances, speakers, and local Haitian artists.
